Fiber Broadband Association Distinguished Service Award, Mike Hill

Mike Hill has made significant contributions to the Fiber Broadband Association and the greater telecom industry. He has been involved with the FBA since 2003 and was the longest tenured board member in the history of the association. Mike was elected to FBA’s Board of Directors in 2006 and faithfully served in that role for 14 years. He has participated on multiple committees, such as Planning & Marketing, Government Relations and Finance & Audit.

Mike’s experience in the telecom industry is long, spanning over fifty years. He started at the grassroots level as an installer and climbed his way up to the Corporate Directorship of a major cable company. In 1995, he joined a national contracting company to utilize his skills within the industry for cable, MMDS Wireless, telephony, and data services. He then became a founder and shareholder of On, Trac, Inc. in 2003.

During his career, Mike was honored with the Fiber Broadband Association’s Photon Award in 2014, which recognizes a member who, through their volunteer contribution, has demonstrated a high level of dedication to the organization and contribution to the industry. In 2018, he was the recipient of The Chairman’s Award, which singles out an individual or company that has shown tremendous effort to promote, educate, or accelerate fiber-to-the-home. 

While serving on the FBA Board, Mike chaired the annual Fiber Connect conference in 2007 and 2010 and was Chairman of the Board in 2008, 2011, and 2016. He also served on several ad-hoc teams such as the Interim President Transitional Team, the President Search Team, and the Conference Planning Vendor Search Team. 

Mike’s continued dedication to the Fiber Broadband Association and the telecom industry makes him a treasured asset. We want to continue to leverage his experience and expertise and have invited him to serve as a founding member to the FBA’s new Senior Council Committee.
