Point Broadband Bringing Fiber Broadband to Gulf Coast Areas
OPELIKA, AL (Dec. 20, 2023) – Point Broadband, a leading fiber-to-the-premise internet provider, is excited to announce the expansion of its multi-gig fiber internet network to the communities of Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe, Florida.
Point Broadband, distinguished as a 2023 All Fiber Service Provider by the Fiber Broadband Association, is investing approximately $7.5 million dollars to deploy state-of-the-art fiber networks along the Florida’s Gulf Coast between Panama City Beach and Apalachicola. When completed, the network will provide affordable and reliable high-speed internet to thousands of residents and businesses, with local service and support.
Point Broadband’s fast fiber internet delivers symmetrical – or same – speeds both for downloads and uploads which sets it apart from old-fashioned cable and phone company internet. With speeds up to 5 gigabits, fiber internet can power multiple smart-home devices and customers can stream live TV and programming with no buffering. Additionally, fiber internet provides businesses with the speed needed to be successful in today’s connected world.
“Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe are growing areas along Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast,” said Todd Holt, Point Broadband CEO. “Having fast, reliable internet is essential for workforce development, education, and healthcare in any community. Point Broadband’s state-of-the-art fiber network will not only improve the lives of residents and business owners but will also be key to supporting economic development in these coastal communities.”
Construction on this fiber project will begin in January 2024, with the first customers slated to have service installed by early March.
