The company says it will focus on operator solutions for the access network and the connected home. CommScope recently developed the Virtual Headend Portfolio, which offers several solutions for networks. Those solutions cover data, video, control and management. CommScope says it will also show how its Fixed Wireless Access tools can utilize 5G technology to compete with fixed-line services in urban and sub-urban areas.

The pilot will enable Mediacom, CableLabs and the Internet & Television Association to assess the capacity of Mediacom’s 10G platform in supporting future home automation, virtual reality, augmented reality, gaming, holographic displays and consumer applications in a real-world setting. “We look forward to helping Mediacom transform their customers’ smart home experiences as they expand the reach and capabilities of this 10G platform,” stated CommScope’s David Grubb.
