The event is November 3-5\, 2024. \nCRRBC is Canada’s Rural & Remote Broadband Community. The theme for 2024 is “Connectivity & Beyond: Building Prosperity in Rural Communities”. \nLet’s shape the future together through engaging discussions on community economic development\, workforce development\, regulatory policies and the latest in technologies. Explore the limitless possibilities of broadband access in rural and Indigenous communities—from boosting tourism and advancing remote healthcare to fostering digital literacy\, exploring data sovereignty\, and laying the groundwork for Smart Communities. Mark your calendar now for a transformative dialogue that paves the way for a connected and thriving rural future. \nConnect with FBA’s Manager\, Membership Outreach and Engagement\, Kim Rickard\, before the event or stop by the FBA booth at the event. One of the biggest changes was when bend insensitive fiber was developed this allowed several applications and handling characteristics to be improved. \nWe will investigate the benefits and pitfalls of the bend insensitive optical fiber. Specifically\, how this will change our concept of handling the fiber\, our concept of how to design the cables that contain the fiber\, termination practices\, and overall installation changes. The advent of more bend insensitive fiber gave rise to several application changes cable design changes as well as installation and termination practices. While all of these are pluses just like adding up tolerances in a mechanical design sometimes\, we find that we stack our tolerances all in the same direction and while everything is within spec the product fails. We will look at how all the benefits have been taken advantage of by the various stages in cable design installation and termination and where they may or may not cause a problem. In general bend insensitive fiber has allowed a much broader manufacturing envelope to be used. But are we coming closer to a failure edge than we recognize\, that is the question. \nPresented by: \nWayne Kachmar\nOwner and President\, Technical Horsepower Consulting\nOptical Cable Technical Expert at Fiber Optic Center\, Inc. \n \n \n Register Now URL:https://fiberbroadband.org/event/fba-presents-how-far-can-we-push-bend-insensitive-fiber/ CATEGORIES:Webinars ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://fiberbroadband.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/FOCenter-11.05.2024_Logos_ED.png END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
