If we look at the history of optical fiber specifically the designs of the glass itself and how it’s been protected, we can see a significant evolution from those very first fibers produced in the late 70s early 80s that required a super delicate environment in which to perform over time both cable and glass designers improved their products and designs. One of the biggest changes was when bend insensitive fiber was developed this allowed several applications and handling characteristics to be improved.

We will investigate the benefits and pitfalls of the bend insensitive optical fiber. Specifically, how this will change our concept of handling the fiber, our concept of how to design the cables that contain the fiber, termination practices, and overall installation changes. The advent of more bend insensitive fiber gave rise to several application changes cable design changes as well as installation and termination practices. While all of these are pluses just like adding up tolerances in a mechanical design sometimes, we find that we stack our tolerances all in the same direction and while everything is within spec the product fails. We will look at how all the benefits have been taken advantage of by the various stages in cable design installation and termination and where they may or may not cause a problem. In general bend insensitive fiber has allowed a much broader manufacturing envelope to be used. But are we coming closer to a failure edge than we recognize, that is the question.

Presented by:

Wayne Kachmar Based on the 2024 Consumer study, Michael Render with RVA will share the latest on tested fiber advantages, as well as key messages for fiber that most resonate with consumers.

In addition, the session will highlight ways to build on fiber superiority with better service and maximize the capabilities of fiber with localized products that build on fiber attributes such as low latency.

The goal for fiber providers should be maximum satisfaction and trust resulting in higher take rates, higher net promoter scores, and higher retention rates.

Special Guest:

Michael Render, CEO & Principal Analyst, RVA LLC

Join us for an engaging fireside chat featuring industry experts from ADTRAN, Cherry Capital Communications, and 6WIND as they discuss the evolving landscape of rural broadband solutions. In this webinar, we will explore how innovative broadband technologies are supporting rural carriers in achieving their business goals with increased flexibility and scalability.

Learn how the pay-as-you-go business model helps align growth strategies with financial realities and discover how BEAD funding is driving new opportunities for rural broadband expansion. Our panelists will also share insights on introducing value-added services like voice and TV streaming to further enhance rural connectivity.

Key Takeaways:

The webinar will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, providing a chance to address your questions and gain expert insights.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from the leaders shaping the future of broadband for rural communities!

Presented by:

With a deeper understanding of their infrastructure and predictive analytics, we help fiber operators reduce faults and increase wins.

For optimized operations, IQGeo enables network builds that are ready for operationalization, in which you can design your network for testing and test as you build. This ensure that you can test and validate that your rollouts are according to design specs as you incrementally build your network. As the network is built, you can use the same testing infrastructure to enrich alarms and tickets with accurate position and asset information to reduce errors, improving the effectiveness of field crews.

To monetize your network, IQGeo’s near-net model discovers business opportunities and automates route generation to deliver faster and more accurate sales estimates. Your sales engineers can dynamically control and edit routes while also integrating near-net opportunities, delivering higher conversion rates on proposals and ultimately higher ROI on your network builds.

Join us to see how IQGeo helps you to enhance your fiber network operations and time to value with more accurate, predictive data.

Presented by:

Join us for an insightful presentation, featuring Ellen Rebne, Senior Vice President of Sales at Graybar. Ellen has 35 years of experience in electrical distribution, advancing through finance and accounting roles before becoming a sales director and later a district vice president. Today, Ellen leads the charge for Graybar’s sales efforts in the U.S. In this session, Ellen will discuss how she has been resilient through change during her career.
